Keep These Tips In Mind When Creating Your SEO Plan

By Clarinda Klocek

How much money and time have you spent on your website? If you haven't spent much time on search engine optimization, or SEO, whatever work you have done on your website was a waste. If no one knows your website exists because it's on page 9 of search results, how will they visit it? Here are a few ways to make sure that the search engines bring visitors right to your url address.

Give your online website a boost with search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is a strategy that is used to bring your webpage higher in the search results when someone uses google, yahoo or similar to find a website on a particular subject. By using key words and phrases that are associated with your business, you can greatly increase the traffic you see on your site.

Most websites can benefit from an internet marketing strategy that encourages customer loyalty and repeat business by fostering a sense of community among customers. By giving customers the opportunity to communicate with each other and staying in contact with them, well-organized websites can build a strong base of repeat business. Loyal customers should feel rewarded for sticking with a particular online business.

Once you get your site ranked where you want it you can never stop working on search engine optimization. If you aren't improving your site then you are degrading its effectiveness. If you allow your site to slip down then someone will start ranking above you. Add new, relevant content continually and always work on improving your links.

When linking back to your homepage through other parts of your website, be sure that you are linking to the domain name and not /index.html or another iteration that has something appended to the end. Your homepage will be placed higher on search results pages if you help search engines recognize that the domain name is the anchor of your site, rather than confusing the search engines by having two (or more) separate homepages (such as /index.html).

If you are trying to lower costs in your initial SEO run, use and test long tail keywords. You might be surprised at the cost/visitor ratio of certain long tail variations of popular keywords. If you can spend $100 to get 1000 visitors to your site, that's better than spending $1000 to get 5000 visitors. Keep in mind that you might have to run several campaigns simultaneously if you use this method.

Switch up your styles. You may think that the more often you "name-drop" keywords on your website, the more easily it will be found. While that is likely true, it is difficult to have a decent content flow, when you consistently insert the same words, repeatedly. Change it up to please your readers and vary your information.

SEO is the best way to raise your ranking with the search engines so that people become aware of your website. Don't spend most of your time tweaking design and content, if you aren't gong to spend as much time on SEO. SEO can be the difference between everyone knowing who you are and no one knowing you exist.
