Google Penguin - Unethical SEO Techniques Cannot Work Anymore

By Blaine Dur

The release of the Penguin update from Google has produced a sizeable effect on small business which always relied on Google ranking results for their online existence. Google released this Penguin update mainly to penalize all those heavily optimized web pages that used keyword stuffing and black hat Web optimization techniques to get a good page ranking.

In other words, the Penguin update targets the search engine optimization methods that were widely employed in the past decade like receiving paid links and spinning and distributing articles to enhance website ranking. So web pages that used all this suffered heavily because the Penguin update led to a drop in their ranking.

There has been a slump in the sales of all those small businesses that applied these wrong methods for getting a good search engine position. Insufficient finances and support for making these changes are the reasons why most of these small corporations cannot respond to the Penguin update modifications.

Whereas, companies can deal with the issue if their search engine optimization focuses on employing only quality content. Their SEO should not consist of keyword stuffing and the SEO services they appoint should strictly go along Google's quality guidelines.

The thought that getting as many backlinks and as much content possible to obtain a good page ranking should be eradicated from the minds of the webmasters. Instead, they should think of employing quality content through visitor blogs and press releases and employ a public relations strategy. Additional options they can take into account are use of multichannel options such as CPM marketing and referrals and even social media campaigns for a better page ranking.

Aside from for the effects Google Penguin update created on small business companies, the update was successful. The intention of this Penguin algorithm was to reduce web spam through which websites get a way higher search engine ranking than they deserved just by misleading search engines.

These sites were actually spamming for some time. But with the release of the Penguin update, the sites that employ ethical SEO techniques could finally attain a good ranking status in the search results which they deserve.
