Reasons Online Video Is Important

By Devon Molark

More media is being seen by consumers on PC and on mobile internet connections, and this is giving marketers a nice opportunity to connect deeper with consumers using video campaigns. With time spent viewing online and mobile video consistently increasing, there's no better time than now to launch a video ad campaign on desktop and mobile.

Online video provides a unique opportunity to engage deeply with your audiences. Social site ads, and regular search and display ad types do a certain amount, but video gives you an extra chance to show your customers what you have to offer. In addition to the power for engagement and branding, online video can be highly focused.

People watch mobile videos that are on average three times as long as the videos they watch on their desktops. Mobile usages including tablets have been rising so much in recent years that this is being noted by all industries and in the next few years, this is only expected to grow.

Having a face to face talk is the best, but next to this, video is the closest alternative. A personal touch can be shown about the company better this way. The viewer will feel closer to your company emotionally when you use a video to get your message through. In a nutshell, online videos can do a lot of good things for your business including making it more likely that someone will see your message and making it easier for people to consume that message once they find it.

How come video is better for website users? Words and photos tell a story to a point, but video takes it to a new level. Music, narration, and movement provide a richer experience, which can more easily educate, entertain or inform your audience.

The amount of time that someone spends on a website is part of what Google uses in it's algorithm for search engine rankings so videos do a lot to increase time spent on a page. Over the last couple of years online videos have risen to the top of the ranks in Google's Universal Search. No matter whether you are a small business selling widgets or a multinational, online video is one of the most valuable and effective means of promoting your business.

So when should you consider investing in online videos?

When you need to educate your target audience. Videos do a great job of explaining the usefulness and the features that your product has.

Customer testimonials lend themselves to the story-telling side of online video. A highly detailed article may be informative, but it is not as exciting as watching a well put together video.

Video is essential to detailed demonstrations; other methods do not go far enough.

When a customer ends up on your website, they want to actually see what the product does, not just look at pictures and read about it, they need to be entertained while being informed about your company or product.

The big companies have been doing so for many years now, but with modern technology, cheap cameras and free software, everyone can do it too.
